Early purveyors of Ibadan’s foundation, Ten City, return once again.
Byron Burke, Herb Lawson and Byron Stingily are Ten City. With production from House legend Marshall Jefferson and being led under the guiding eyes of Jerome Sydenham and Joe Claussell, the group released their distinctive brand of Deep House in many forms, this particular release as, 'Dub Life Volume 1'. This releases served as a collection of some of their best track where the vocals played a limited role.

The A1, 'Suspicious (High Life)' Takes off in their typical form with Herb's guitar doing most of the work with Latin flavored melodies played with the vibrations of a Blues guitar. The bass is also again commanded by a bass guitar, which flows smoothly under the chimes, natural percussion and intermittent shakers.

Sharing the inside of the platter is, 'All Loved Out (Love Serenade)'. The bass line is an absolute winner here. It could so easily fit into body moving club track, but is used here with a more subdued roll that seemingly works to perfection.

The flip starts out with, 'My Peace Of Heaven (Demo Dub)'; a “praise the lord” organ, bongo and conga sermon. This is one to get you out of your seat and have you dancing in the aisles. Everything from the introduction of the strings to the uplifting warmth of the bottom-end are perfectly arranged.

'Nothing's Changed (Acroostrumental)' round out this 12” on the B2. Although this is meant to showcase the dub versions of some of their classics, Byron makes cameo appearance on this Disco flavored number. Barry White’s would not be out of place on this horn and string laden gem.

The unstoppable team of Joe and Jerome prove they’ve got it in them to find out and cultivate talent. Ten City, however have more than the average group, blessing them with a special and unique quality, which was the foundation of their success.
